Orientation period in Theatre Academy

ORIENTATION PERIOD


New students’ orientation period constitutes of several parts.

A course titled Study skills is part of the general orientation studies required by all of the bachelor’s students studying at the Theatre Academy.

As for master’s students, their orientation includes a course titled Orientation to studies/ Orientation to master's degree studies, or the orientation can be integrated into their other studies.

 

 


ORIENTATION OF THE DEGREE PROGRAMME/MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMME

In your own programme’s orientation session, you will go through, e.g., the degree requirements, curriculum, course registration, course participation and different forms of teaching, programme’s practices concerning study guidance, teaching, and information channels (Webmail, Artsi), applying for credit transfer, as well as feedback practices. You will also be introduced to students’ online tool Peppi and compile your personal study plan (PSP).


 

An information session in English will be held on 24 August at 1pm - 4pm (for new MA students) in Zoom

OVERNIGHT CAMP SCHOOL FOR BACHELOR’S STUDENTS

All new bachelor’s students of the Theatre Academy will participate in a joint overnight camp from 12 to 15 October at Kisakallio (Lohja). During the camp, students will get to know each other and members of the teaching staff. The event focuses on the skills of working in a group, taking into account oneself and others.

 

CAMP SCHOOL FOR MASTER’S STUDENTS

Students that have been admitted to master’s studies and master’s programmes will participate in a camp on 31 August in Vallisaari Island (Helsinki). The day includes e.g. getting to know other students, teachers and Vallisaari itself.

The headshot photo shoot for new master’s students will be organised on 31 August during the camp.

  

SERVICES FOR ARTISTIC ACTIVITIES (TTP) INTRODUCTION

Services for Artistic Activities (TTP) will give an orientation session to all the new students on Monday, 30 August, from 13.00 to 17.00. TTP will also organise a special orientation session to new lighting design, sound design and scenography students.

 

IT CLINIC

The IT clinic is organized in the form of instructional videos (with English subtitles). The short videos illustrate the use of the services.
