Freshman day 23.8.2019
Hi there, new artist! During the orientation day, you will learn more about Uniarts Helsinki’s facilities and community through shared experiences and activities. The day will begin at 11:00 at the Exhibition Laboratory of the Academy of Fine Arts (the address is Merimiehenkatu 36). We will first have some coffee and light snacks, so be there in time!
During the day, you will get to reflect on questions about art that are very familiar also to Uniarts Helsinki’s Rector and Deans, who will join the group later during the day. You will also get to know the academies’ facilities and other fellow first-year students. All you need to bring along is yourself, your thoughts and maybe a water bottle, and it’s a good idea to pick shoes that you are comfortable walking in. You can also bring a change of clothes for the evening’s afterparty, if you want.
The day is an excellent chance to start thinking about art in the context of our university, and it will challenge you to share your own thoughts and listen to those of others.
During the day, you’ll get to enjoy a morning coffee and a lunch together with others, and the programme is scheduled to end at about 17:30. Welcome!
Note: The University of the Arts Student Union is hosting an afterparty after the orientation. Make sure not to double book yourself if you want to spend the evening with your classmates in a relaxed setting.

Greetings from the student union:
HELLO ALL YOU NEW STUDENTS IN UNIARTS HELSINKI as well as all you older students!
After the new students' common Orientation Day on 23 August, we wish to invite you to the Orientation Day Party: in three parts, PREPARTY, PARTY and AFTERPARTY! The event is open to all students in Uniarts Helsinki, both new and old.
As the official Orientation Day ends, we offer you a place to chill and hang out with food. The Teak Bunker is a nice place to hang out, where we can get to know each other and eat some vegan Lidl PIZZA and other snacks. Take your own drinks, if you want to sit down for a while on the comfortable couches in the Bunker and listen to some music. There will also be board games available.
WHEN: 5pm ->
WHERE: The Bunker, Theatre Academy, Haapaniemenkatu 6
From 8pm to 10pm, Merikerho has a HAPPY HOUR only for us! We will start together towards the bar from the Bunker. You can get discounts from drinks by showing a Uniarts student card, e.g. from the Frank app.
WHERE: Merikerho, Sörnäisten Rantapromenadi
Merikerho has an HJM Klubi music club from 10pm onwards, and there will be discount tickets for Uniarts students (we will update the price here later). Merikerho also has a terrace, where you can stay longer without paying for the club. And if the event doesn't interest you that much, we will also be moving back to the BUNKER, where there will be music until 4 AM!
